Xinhua News Agency (Sept 6): the annual meeting of Asia-Pacific Tourism Organization(APTO)will be held in Macao on December 11th – 12th 2004. At present, preliminary preparation has been completed. Asia-Pacific Tourism Organization is a trade association in the travel industry based in Asia-Pacific area, with mission to promote interests of APTO members, strengthen the cooperation among members in the Asia-Pacifica area, serve for the member's business development in travel industry, cooperate with government, media, institution and organization associated with travel industry for the benefit of its members. Since its establishment in 2001, APTO have received extensive response from more than 40 tourism organizations in the Asia-Pacific area and have set up the representative offices in Japan , South Korea, India , China , Bhutan etc. This annual meeting will be co-hosted by APTO and America Globalization Cooperation Committee.APTO have invited more than 800 members in 36 countries, more than 300 organizations with interests in the development, investment, research of the global tourist resources. When the time comes, representatives from 41 countries and regions will get together in Macao. APTO’s annual meeting have significant impact to promote tourism development of Macao, Hong Kong and Mainland.
